Sinn Féin Poblachtach member questioned in Scotland

Sinn Féin Poblachtach condemns the detention this morning on the England/Scotland border of one of our members from Co Monaghan.

The man was detained travelling to Scotland and brought to Edinborough Police station for questioning under anti terrorism legislation. He also had his phone seized.

During interview he was questioned about what he was doing in England and Scotland and who was he associating with there. They also asked him about his association with people in Ireland. He was asked about his views on brexit and what group he was with.

The Sinn Féin Poblachtach member refused to answer questions and demanded to see his solicitor. After consultation with his solicitor he was released shortly afterwards.

Sinn Féin Poblachtach condemns this incident and would like to warn people that if they are stopped or questioned or under detention that you have the right to ask for legal representation at all times. Críoch
